Calliope : Leprieur's Glory Framed Specimen
You have already met Philomena. She showed you her underside, all sage green and black spots and that flash of red at the heart of her. Calliope shows you something else entirely.
This is the topside. The recto. The face the Leprieur's Glory wears in flight, and it is breathtaking in a completely different way. Metallic blue-teal sweeping across the upper wings, deep and iridescent, shifting as the light moves across her. Dark banding that grounds all that shimmer. The same species, an entirely different story.
Charles Darwin considered this one of the most beautiful butterflies in the world. Having now seen both sides, it is easy to understand why he could not choose just one.
She rests simply in a distressed white chippy-paint wooden frame on a linen backing, because nothing should compete with Calliope. She is the whole conversation.
All specimens in Empoorium are ethically sourced and handled with deep intention. Calliope ships carefully packaged in recyclable materials, ready to find her forever home on your shelf, your altar, or your wall.
If you love Calliope, you might also love her sister Philomena, the same species showing her underside, all metallic sage green and that secret flash of red. Two sides of the same story.
